What OE means
OE stands for an outlet (drain) error. The machine's control board measured the water level, started the drain pump, and the level didn't drop as expected within the set time. The cause is almost always somewhere between the drum and your drain pipe.
How to fix the OE error
- Switch off and unplug the machine.
- Open the small flap at the bottom front of the machine to find the drain pump filter and the thin emergency drain tube.
- Drain the water. Put a tray and towels under the tube, pull out its cap and let the water flow out. This can take several trays.
- Unscrew the filter anticlockwise and remove lint, coins, hair clips and anything else trapped in it.
- Check the impeller behind the filter. With a torch, see if it turns freely. Something stuck there will stop the pump.
- Refit the filter tightly, close the drain tube cap and the flap.
- Check the drain hose at the back for kinks, and make sure it isn't pushed too far into the wall drain.
- Plug in and run Rinse+Spin. If the water drains and OE doesn't return, the problem is fixed.
If OE keeps coming back
| What you notice | Likely cause |
|---|---|
| Pump hums but water doesn't move | Blockage in hose or sink trap, or broken impeller |
| No sound from the pump at all | Failed drain pump or wiring |
| Water drains but OE still shows | Pressure (water level) sensor or control board |
| OE only on some cycles | Partially blocked hose or slow sink drain |
These need a technician. A FixQara visit costs AED 75 for the inspection, and a replacement LG drain pump comes with our 1-year parts warranty.
How to prevent OE
- Check pockets for coins, tissues and hair clips before washing.
- Clean the pump filter every one to two months.
- Use a laundry bag for small items like baby socks.
- Use the right amount of HE detergent; too much foam slows draining.
